On July 1st 2018, the Government of Barbados implemented a new tax on fuel to essentially replace road tax. This tax is levied
at the rate of 40 cents a litre on both petrol and diesel, and five cents a litre on kerosene. The Government of Barbados
hopes to raise
$80 million per year
from this tax compared with the $65 million brought in from the previous road tax system.
Whilst the previous road tax was a fixed number which depended on the vehicle type, the new fuel tax depends on how much
fuel you use which in turn depends on much you drive and your vehicle's fuel efficiency. The calculator will allow you
to get an estimate of the amount that you'll spend in fuel taxes, a comparison of totals spent pre- and post- fuel tax
and your fuel usages.
